I have a bit of an Ontario roundup for you today, as there have been a couple of stories relating to the province’s newly regulated iGaming market of late. This is great news for Canadian casino fans living in Ontario, as you now have access to even more titles across two platforms.
As a result, in this news piece, I will cover Casumo Casino going live in Ontario and Pragmatic Play’s agreement with a leading Ontario operator.
Casumo Casino Begins Operations in Ontario
Ontario residents now have access to a multi-award-winning online casino and sportsbook as Casumo Casino has revealed it has gone live in the regulated Canadian province. The news was revealed via a press release issued by Malta-based Casumo Services Limited.
It has been some time coming as it was on June 8, 2022, that the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) first issued a licence to Pret Play Limited, a subsidiary of Casumo Services Limited. That licence, which runs until June 7, 2023, allows the operator to provide iGaming services to players (above the age of 19) within the province of Ontario. That includes live casino games, video slots, and sports betting.
This news means that residents of the Canadian province now have access to close to 50 regulated platforms. That includes other big-name brands, including LeoVegas, BetMGM, DraftKings, and PlayOJO. As for Casumo Casino, a platform we have reviewed, this licence becomes the latest for a brand that is already licenced to operate in other key iGaming markets including the United Kingdom, Malta, Sweden, Spain, and Germany.
Garry McGibbon, the VP of Commercial for Casumo, summed up the brand’s mood following its Ontario launch when he said: “We’re excited to get going with our plans to bring Casumo magic to the fingertips of Ontario players.”
Players in Ontario could previously access Casumo Casino as an offshore platform under its Malta Gaming Authority licence (MGA). However, the AGCO has recently ended a grace transition period for suppliers under its licensing. The authority gave those suppliers a certain time frame to stop offering their products to Ontario residents via unlicensed casinos. That means any Ontarians playing at offshore casinos can no longer access games from some of the best iGaming suppliers as they have toed the line as per licensing conditions. This includes brands such as Evolution, Ezugi, and Pragmatic Play Live.
To ensure that it is able to offer members the best games available, Casumo decided to get a licence of its own. Besides, this licensing affords Ontarians improved player protection compared to what they receive at offshore casinos.
Pragmatic Play Inks Deal with NorthStar Gaming in Ontario
In further news that will delight residents of Ontario, Pragmatic Play has entered into a strategic content agreement with one of the leading operators in the province. The leading brand has inked a deal with NorthStar Gaming, an AGCO-licensed company that runs the popular NorthStar Bets online sportsbook and casino platform.
As a result, members of that online casino can now access Pragmatic Play’s vast portfolio of video slots. That includes the popular John Hunter and Big Bass series of titles alongside award-winning titles such as Gates of Olympus™ and Sugar Rush™.
While this agreement does not currently include Pragmatic Play’s high-quality collection of live casino games, I am confident this will happen sometime soon. Pragmatic Also Expands its Position in Brazil
While I am here talking about Pragmatic Play, I might as well let you know that this forward-thinking brand has also made further moves in Brazil recently. Making it its fifteenth partnership with a Brazilian operator this year, the iGaming supplier has entered into an agreement with Bet24Horus. As a result, that platform can now offer three of Pragmatic Play’s iGaming verticals. Brazilian gamers can now enjoy the firm’s live casino, video slot, and virtual sports titles. Of course, in the former category, that means fantastic live games ranging from live roulette and blackjack to gameshows such as Sweet Bonanza CandyLand and Boom City.
