In the recently released Sunday Times Rich List, which ranks the UK’s most wealthy business owners, it was revealed that the owners of several gambling firms have made the cut! The owners of Bet365, Evolution, Pokerstars, and Betfred all have a net worth large enough to qualify them among the top 250 wealthiest owners in the United Kingdom.

It was no surprise to see Denise, John and Peter Coates flying the flag for the gambling industry. The owners of Bet365 usually make the list. However, while dropping one position from last year, the combined worth of the trio is good enough to see them placed 17th. They have a net worth of £8.442 billion, up another £1.282 billion from last year.

Denise Coates founded Bet365 just 20 years ago and is now the highest-paid boss in the UK. Her salary for the year ending March 2021 was an eye-watering £421 million.

Sunday Times Rich List Places Evolution’s Owners 27th

Ian and Richard Livingstone, the brothers who own live casino development company Evolution, also made the list once again. This time their combined wealth allowed them to improve on last years 36th position to land in 27th. This is due to increasing their combined wealth by £2.2 billion in the past year, which leaves the brothers with a net worth of £6.1 billion.

There is little doubt that the companies continued expansion has played a massive part in this increase. Evolution acquired NetEnt at the end of 2020 to get a foothold in the video slot genre, while the company continues to lead the way in the live casino space. This expansion is likely to continue too, with the company likely to acquire Big Time Gaming soon.

While Evolution obviously accounts for the bulk of the brother’s wealth, the pair also make a ton of money in property. They own high-end shops and hotels in affluent areas of London.

PokerStars and Betfred Owners Listed Too!

Mark Scheinberg, the owner of Pokerstars managed to make the top 50 by placing 49th on the Sunday Times Rich List. He has a net worth of £3.519 billion, which is actually down on last year by £36 million. In 2020, Scheinberg placed 5 places higher in 44th.  As for the owners of Betfred, Fred and Peter Done increased their combined net worth by £35 million. With a combined wealth of £1.235 billion, the Done brothers are listed as the 137th most wealthy business owners in 2021.

The richest business owner on the Sunday Times Rich List is Sir Leanoard Blavatnik. Worth £23 billion, Blavatnik is the 35th wealthiest person in the world.  The owner of sports streaming platform Dazn, makes his fortune in numerous industries including investments, music, and media.
