BetGames, a studio known for innovative gambling titles and live dealer games, has secured multiple new licenses in the UK, allowing it to expand its operations.

The company will soon launch its critically-acclaimed Twain Sport product, featuring short-form soccer and basketball action.

UK Gambling Sector’s Rising Influence: Lavish Incentives for MPs Raise Concerns

The UK gambling sector has been exponentially increasing its spending on incentives for MPs, such as tickets to popular games and corporate hospitality. This surge in spending raises concerns about the industry’s influence on politics, as it tries to avoid stricter regulations. A 2019 scandal involving a Conservative MP lobbying for a gambling company highlights the potential issues surrounding this practice. Upon further investigation, gambling companies had splash out over £8,000 on entertaining MPs. However, now there is new concern as this number has increased to roughly £114,000 in 2022. The 2019 scenario only involved 6 MPs, but this time around the number is as high as 25 MPs. In 2022, the figure is at 36 MPs and a total of £87,000 spent.

With the white paper beckoning, the worst thing any MP involved with the process is to slow it down by accepting gifts. The last thing we need is for the white paper to come out and then a scandal to follow. That could mean a new review and more uncertainty.

MPs Place Charity Bets for Grand National, Supporting Local Communities and Charities

Hopefully the fact that MPs are to place bets on one of the UK’s premiere sporting events, and the highlight of the horse racing industry won’t stir up the hornets nest in the above story covering lavish spending to accommodate UK MPs.

The Grand National, set to take place on April 15, is a globally renowned event with around 13 million UK adults expected to place bets. The race contributes significantly to the economy, with GBP 250 million projected to be staked on the main event, generating tax revenues and supporting horse racing. Betting shops also provide thousands of jobs and contribute to the UK’s tax revenue. To mark the occasion over 40 MPs are participating in a charity bet event for the Grand National, organized by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC).

The MPs will visit local betting shops to place bets. Should any of them end up winning, their prize for being a hotshot horse racing guru is to choose which charity their winnings will be donated to.

Navigating the Grand National: Psychiatrists Urge Responsible Gambling Practices

Although the UK MPs are just having a bit of fun for a good cause, The Royal College of Psychiatrists urges responsible gambling during the Grand National. The event attracts 600 million viewers worldwide. And with that millions are expected to place bets which could reach record number this year – up to £300 million. With a significant number of problem gamblers in Great Britain, experts like Prof. Henrietta Bowden-Jones recommend seeking help and self-exclusion.

A Positive Note: UK online casinos all offer self exclusion and cool down tools. On top of this, there are responsible gambling tools to limit deposits, bet amounts, and losses!
