Playtech, one of the UK’s leading iGaming suppliers, continues its lucrative expansion into the US market this time via sports betting channels via an alliance with Novomatic Americas.
This is a partnership of 2 giants involved in both online and land-based sports betting solutions globally, while also an unlikely partnership that maybe some did not see coming. The current alliance brings together what effectively ‘competing’ touchscreen betting terminals into a single solution to offer an improved interactive betting technology to the US sports betting market via the Novomatic ActionBook.
Now the deal is official, Playtech’s state-of-the-art Self-Service Betting Terminals (SSBT), a.k.a. sports wagering kiosk, technology will deploy into the US market to complement the ActionBook, which is currently the most popularly used interactive sports betting terminal stateside!
This is a solid deal for Playtech as Novomatic already has a marked presence in the USA supplying two of the largest sportsbook operators. Via staunch B2B deals with Penn International and Draft Kings, Novomatic ActionBook betting terminals are now active in over 48 brick-and-mortar casinos and sports betting venues in 11 states where land-based sports betting is currently legal. Meanwhile, Playtech supplies over 60,000 bet entry points worldwide!
In addition to this, Playtech and Novomatic will also promote the ‘Playtech Player Account Management (PAM)’ software as well as its ‘Mobile Sportsbook’ in the country!
This is the fifth notable deal Playtech has made in the US. The UK PLC made it first move via Bet365 into New Jersey in mid-2020. Since then, the firm has moved quickly partnering with IGT, another slot developer, and BetMGM.
In late February this year, Playtech also penned in an agreement with Greenwood Racing to bring top-rated Playtech video slots to Parx online casinos in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania with Indiana in the pipeline once the state draws up its regulatory conditions iGaming.
It is safe to say that the Playtech American expansion is on! And we can only hope and pray this means we will see Playtech Live begin to make its mark on US soil…
What is Novomatic ActionBook?
ActionBook™ is a land-based touch screen sports betting kiosk. Players can use touch screen technology to place their bets, pay via cash or card, and the betting terminal prints a receipt and bet slip.
The same concept of a betting terminal is popular in Europe. In October 2019, Novomatic brought its ActionBook solution into US markets where land-based sports betting is legal. As a matter of policy, Novomatic only provides its solutions to regions that have a solid legal framework in place and the USA currently has close to 20 states where in-person sports betting is legal while 14 states currently allow online mobile sports betting according to a report by ESPN.
What is Playtech Sports Wagering Kiosk (SSBT)
Much the same as the ActionBook technology, sports betting fans can use the SSBT kiosk to place sports bets. Anyone can stand at the station and place in-play bets while the action is folding, get enhanced odds for certain markets, cash-out features, and browse non-sports, domestic sports, and international sports markets. Even if someone made an over-the-counter bet, they can use the SSBT terminal to cash out simply by typing in their bet slip number as opposed to walking back to the over-the-counter service.
