It is yet another ground-breaking deal for the LSE-listed Playtech. The online gambling entertainment giant is about to break loose with an exciting new line of live casino game shows. One already mentioned and now in the pipeline is a new live dealer gameshow called Family Feud.

News of Playtech’s plans to expand its live casino gameshow portfolio comes via the company’s official news columns. A new deal with a company known as the Fremantle is about to squeeze more out of the currency live casino game show market share.

I am not sure how well the concept will kick off across Europe. Still, as Playtech has studios in Michigan and New Jersey, USA, the new partnership will undoubtedly increase Playtech’s foothold in the market mainly because the game originates in the US. However, it is also popular in other countries via satellite and cable TV, while some countries have a domestic variant of the game.

Fremantle is the brainchild behind popular US shows such as X-Factor, Idols, and Got Talent. However, I don’t know how these would become game shows. Yet, after several years working in the online gambling entertainment business, I already know anything is possible. The two companies appear set on beginning the venture forward with the Family Feud game show title, and who knows what could come next!

Edo Haitin, Playtech Live CEO, commented, “This partnership with Fremantle is a game-changer. I’m thrilled we could partner with Fremantle to bring the legendary Family Feud to the gaming world”.

What is the Family Feud Gameshow?

Family Feud is a popular TV game show with a loyal viewership for 25+ years. It has become popular globally. As with live gameshows and many other online casino games, the Family Feud live game show has had several variations/adaptions of the game to suit various worldwide audiences.

It will be interesting to see how Playtech rehashes it as a live casino gameshow, and here is why. The show pits two families against one another. In turn, the presenter will switch questions between the families who must guess the correct answer to win points. The answers are available in multiple-choice format, and these answers have a twist.

All multiple-choice questions come with the top 4 most popular answers taken from a survey of a sample group. Therefore, they are only sometimes obvious.

  • Family Feud originated in the USA.
  • It has been running for over two and a half decades.
  • Two families play against one another
  • Correctly answering multiple-choice questions earns points
  • The four multiple choice answers come from pre-run surveys

Bringing Cult TV-Shows and Games into the Live Casino Game Show Arena

The latest Fremantle deal is another considerable partnership for Playtech. It shows how you can mix TV entertainment with online gaming. We have seen how this can be done through the Deal or No Deal game show, which also originates from a popular TV game show. Playtech also has Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Roulette Live, and the company brought Alice in Wonderland to the reel and then to the Live Casino Wheel of Fortune gameshow scene via Adventures in Wonderland.

In a way, even Playtech’s Money Drop gameshow is in essence, an adaption of a TV gameshow. Originally by Endemol, a company that creates a wide variety of game shows, reality TV shows, and scripted programming. Money Drop also has had various international adaptations with slightly different names and rules. For example, The Million Pound Drop aired in the UK. There was also a US version called “The $100,000 Money Drop.

On top of this, we must credit Evolution and Pragmatic Play for their gameshow inventions taking popular board games to the iGaming scene. Monopoly Live, Monopoly Big Baller, and Snakes and Ladders are great examples.

Playtech Continues to Team Up with Major Brands!

It also adds to an already impressive list of collaborators. Deals with Sony Pictures have enabled the brand to bring the Playtech Jumanji™ The Bonus Level Live Gameshow in August this year, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire into the Playtech live game show, online slot and other iGaming portfolios.

Over in its online slots circle, Playtech has also been in deals with Marvel and Warner Bros, which I am surprised have not resulted in gameshows to sequel its video slot versions.
