Playtech Awarded B2B Safer Gambling Accreditation

Leading provider of support, advice, and information for anyone with problem gambling in the UK, GamCare has announced Playtech as the pioneer recipient of the newly developed Business to Business safer gambling standard pioneered by GamCare. The new safer Gambling Standard was developed by GamCare as its independent quality standard to assess the measures put in place by businesses to protect their clients from experiencing problem gambling and other gambling-related issues. It also recognizes those firms that put so much value in the protection of their customers by putting them at the core of if their operations.

Playtech became the first firm to receive the Safer Gambling Standard Award from GamCare for its casino platform operations and products licensed in Great Britain. GamCare explained that it decided to award Playtech the accreditation after considering how Playtech implemented an external Stakeholder Advisory Board as well as Playtech’s ‘Sustainable Success’ (its new sustainable business strategy). GamCare sees these two achievements as models of good practices in Playtech’s strategy on safer gambling. Furthermore, GamCare highlighted ‘Playtech Protect’, an approach that brings all Playtech’s compliance technology, solutions, services, tools, safer gambling, and BetBuddy together to provide solutions to the industry.

Speaking on the honours announcing news that Playtech awarded safer gambling accreditation, Richard Bayliss, Playtech’s Compliance and Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager noted that:

Playtech has always worked in hand its licensees to boost industry standards in safer gambling and responsible business through its industry-leading services and products.

Bayliss further stated that Playtech has increased its strategic focus since 2018 by working with thought leaders, charities and academics outside and inside the gambling sector to achieve its Sustainable Success commitments. He continued that the company is proud to be the pioneer B2B business recipient of B2B safer gambling accreditation from GamCare. The Manager expressed his company’s delight with GamCare’s recognition of its effort to place safer gambling at the core of its operation. In his last remark, Bayliss noted that Playtech knows that it must continue to work with others while challenging itself to develop and identify new solutions and products to meet the needs of regulators, licensees, and customers.

While also commenting on the accreditation award, GamCare’s Head of Safer Gambling Standards, Harley Jane Smith said that:

The firm awarded Advanced level 2 of 3 of its B2B Standard to Playtech for its platform operations and casino product licensed in Great Britain as it showed a clear focus to continue to improve and develop its approach to safer gambling with regards to the product it supplied to gambling operators.

Jane Smith also added that GamCare tested Playtech’s focus on safer gambling by conducting an in-depth review of the company’s staff training, innovation, product design, and governance. According to Jane Smith, GamCare also conducted interviews with management and staff at all levels in Playtech as part of the test of its focus on safer gambling. In her last remark, the Safer Gambling Standards Head noted that GamCare looks forward to continuing to liaise with Playtech on the assessment of its B2B business operations and the current advancement of its safer gambling approach.
