The excitement of online gambling is about the games, the software, and the environment we play in, but there is a more serious side to the business. Responsible gambling, player protection and fair results so players can achieve maximum fun and ultimately satisfaction.

That’s exactly where company projects such as Playtech’s new responsible gambling research come into the fold. Also, the UKGC’s focus on player protection helps keep the UK online gambling market honest. Plus, companies like Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) help authorities like the UKGC protect players by guaranteeing iGaming platforms and their games deliver fair results with integrity.

Let’s see exactly how these organisations are participating in the iGaming market to bring you the perfect player experience:

EMEA Demand Growth Sparks Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®)  Appointments

With the current demand for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) continuously expanding for Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®), the company has decided to bring on an additional two account managers. They will be responsible for managing EMEA operators in these regions.

  • Remco Bosc: Already based in the UK market, Mr Bosc already has the required experience dealing with EMEA suppliers as well as operators across a number of gambling verticals both online and land-base as well as within sports betting and online casino.
  • Miha Bizjack: One of the key advantages for GLI® bringing on Mr Bizjack is his multi-lingual prowess. He speaks English, Italian, Spanish, Russian, French, and Slovenian. For GLI, having someone that communicate on the company’s behalf across EMEA makes the new appointment an invaluable addition to the team.

GLI is a one of the most well-known security and algorithm testing companies in iGaming. The company has built its reputation through its excellent processes and ability to deliver expert analysis of algorithms across a number of industries. The key service include product testing, inspection and certification, most importantly to casino players, GLI tests and verifies random number generators (RNGs) that deliver game results for video slots, virtual (RNG) tables, virtual sports and more.

GLI® EMEA VP for Sales Said: “It is a busy time for the company globally and demand will likely increase after this year’s ICE London 2023”. His comments predicting demand growth go hand-in-hand with the expansion of the Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ).

Playtech Responsible Gambling Research Investment to Promote Safer Gambling

In conjunction with the Erasmus University Rotterdam and the University of Amsterdam, UK London Stock Exchange iGaming software provider Playtech has released news that it is involved in a brand-new 4-year-long safer gambling project. On top of this, the Netherlands’ famous Holland Casino is also involved.

Currently, the venture appears to be in the research stage and will eventually lead to a fully inclusive responsible gambling framework. The desired final outcome is a tool that customises responsible gambling software to an individual gamblers’ needs. The report doesn’t give away much, but it does mention that tools will be introduced according to behavioural and risk factors. I am assuming that means AI is part of the plan, or it could just be a simple equation-based system. E.g., if the player’s behaviour = ‘A +C’ then apply solution ‘A + C’. Obviously, I am sure the equations will be far more complex.

The title of the project is “A Safe Bet: design and evaluation of a player-tailored online responsible gambling promotion framework“. It’s a bit of a mouthful, but I am sure we’ll be hearing more about it, and we are excited to see what it brings.

Playtech’s COO Shimon Akad commented: Investment in data research and online solutions in the field of responsible gambling is something the brand is already actively involved in. However, by collaborating with universities’ academics, the company feels it can improve its current model.

UKGC To Showcase Largest Player Protection Zone at ICE London 2023

Neatly fitting into the topic of Playtech’s ambitions to improve the way it delivers responsible gambling tools is news of a larger than ever before Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) featuring at next February’s ICE London 2023.

The United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) is going all out after it announced that it would showcase one of the largest ‘player protection exhibitions’ compared to its previous outings at the event. Why? Player protection has never been more important than now. And although I agree, I think each year will be more important than the next. It is stating the obvious in my opinion, while at the same time it is a good thing!

For those of you not in the know, Ice London has a dedicated Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) amongst the many iGaming software providers showcasing the latest and greatest games coming out over the course of 2023. In fact, last year’s 2022 event made way for 14 stands in the CPZ, while this 2023 event will feature 20 stands. With such an emphasis on safer gambling, this offers those in this niche the perfect chance to showcase responsible gambling solutions they are utilising on their platforms and on client platforms.

Furthermore, there is a charitable side to this section. Last year, the CPZ raised over £ 146,000, while this year the target is £ 200,000. The money raised goes to organisations that specifically help problem gamblers or fight to deter gambling addiction. For example, from the £ 146,000 raised in 2022, GamCare received £ 20,000, Better Change £ 6,000, and the Responsible Gambling Council £ 6,000. What’s more, many of the donations came from big brand names like Kindred and Entain.

CPZ Organisations: Most are non-profits and the ICE event does not charge them for space, while others are iGaming and sports betting firms that invest heavily in safer gambling software. Some of the names lined up to show up in the CPZ include the UK Gambling Commissions, GamCare, Gamstop, the National Center for Problem Gambling, IGT and many more.
