Despite being in the middle of a tug of war between two firms trying to acquire the iGaming giant, Playtech is still going about its business of pushing into new online gambling markets. The firm has announced that it has now opened a new live casino studio in Switzerland, making it the first of its kind in the country.

This state-of-the-art studio was built on the property of Swiss Casinos in Zurich, and it will now heighten the live casino experience for Swiss players thanks to the tables featuring fully trained native-speaking live dealers and croupiers.

Playtech already has a previous agreement with Swiss Casinos, one of the country’s biggest gambling entities, and the owner of four of Switzerland’s largest land-based casinos. This 2019 agreement meant that players in the country already had access to live casino games developed by Playtech, on the Swiss Casinos online casino. However, this move allows Swiss players to enjoy the games in their native language and with Swiss dealers and croupiers.

Currently, the studio offers Swiss tables featuring Roulette, 7-Seat Blackjack, and All Bets Blackjack, but the firm expects to add other Swiss-specific tables soon.

Playtech is the second-largest live dealer iGaming brand behind Evolution, which is no mean feat considering the competition it has with the likes of Pragmatic Play Live, Vivo Gaming, and the Evolution-owned Ezugi. The provider offers a wide range of live titles, including numerous multi-lingual variations of Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, and poker-based games such as Casino Hold’em, Stud Poker, and 3-Card Brag. However, it is the developer’s live game shows that arguably allows it to stay ahead of the chasing pack. Titles such as Adventures Beyond Wonderland, Spin a Win, Deal or No Deal – The Big Draw, Age of the God Roulette, and The Money Drop Live, are among the most popular live casino games in the industry.

Who Will Own Playtech in 2021?

The news of a brand new studio is nothing but a mere distraction from the big Playtech news that is on the lips of everybody in the iGaming industry. Aristocrat, another huge gambling firm first bid to acquire the company in October, and that was followed up by an increased bid from Gopher Investments a couple of weeks later.

Shareholders will vote on the takeover bids in January, but in many quarters, the feeling is that the lower bid by Aristocrat makes the most sense. This is a firm steeped in history throughout both the land-based and virtual gaming realms. In fact, it could be a partnership made in heaven, as Aristocrat is tied in with many land-based casinos around the world. This could fast-track Playtech to becoming a direct rival to Evolution as the firm!
