Covered here on Livecasinocentral regularly, Canada has one of the most vibrant gambling markets globally. With multiple licensing authorities, particularly the Ontario iGaming provincial online gambling entertainment zone, plenty of news is coming from the North American nation’s media columns.

In this latest update, Rivarlry’s announces its new iOS app platform in Ontario. There is also news of Casumo seeking to avoid making the same mistakes as other casinos such as Bunchberry, Mobile Incorporated, and Leo Vegas, who let games not covered under the iGaming licensing onto their platforms. Plus, we look at a Craps cheating scam that has resulted in the arrest of a dealer and four players.

Also, I will cover the Loto-Québec latest revenue report, which might give the Quebec Online Gaming Coalition (QOGC) report in recent Québec gambling licensing news in which companies such as Flutter Entertainment Betway, Draftkings, Entain, Flutter, Bet99, Games Global, and Rush Street are putting pressure on opening up licensing for private gambling companies to gain licensing in the province.

 Loto-Québec drop in revenue

The story we’ll begin with is recent news coming out of Loto-Québec. Results for the FY2023/24 show that revenues dropped to C$ 711.2m with a net income of C$ 380.9m reported. The drop is 15% year-on-year. That said, according to the board, these results were better than expected, and the 15% drop is a false figure in some respects due to recovery from the COVID pandemic the figures are distorted. As with mot financial reports over the past year, we will need to wait to see what the full and final figures hold for the FY2023/24 when released next year.

After hefty fines, Casumo Casino partners with Mkodo’s Geolocs to ensure only legal games appear on its platform

In Ontario, Canada, online casino games are only allowed when they are from software providers that are registered in Ontario. This is clearly stated in the gaming license regulated by the gaming authority in the area – Alcohol and Gaming of Ontario (AGCO).

Three big players recently received fines totaling 70,000 USD because they had games on their platforms from software providers not registered in Ontario. Mobile Incorporated Limited, Bunchberry Limited, and LeoVegas Gaming PLC were gaming operators. According to them, it was an oversight mistake by their tech teams.

Casumo Casino has contracted the services of Mkodo’s Geolocs to avoid this situation. Mkodo’s Geolocs has technical expertise in monitoring and regulating casino platforms. They will ensure that no games appear on a platform that does not have the legal rights to do so. With this service, casino operators can rest assured that they will not be fined for oversight issues.

Casino in Toronto receives a $80,000 fine for dealer cheat scheme

Casino Woodbine in Toronto recently received a massive fine of 80,000 Canadian Dollars for a cheating scheme that involved a scamming dealer. There were some initial uncertainties about whether the dealer or the casino received the penalty, but reports have confirmed that it was Casino Woodbine.

The Alcohol and Gaming of Ontario (AGCO) released a report documenting all the information about the alleged game-fixing at the casino’s Craps table. According to their account, the Ontario Provincial Police Investigation and Enforcement Bureau (IEB) discovered unprecedented losses at Casino Woodbine’s electronic Craps table.

The situation was further investigated, and it was found that the casino did not make any effort to exploit the substantial losses. It was also shown that no supervisors were present at the table when significant losses were taken. Furthermore, the casino allowed the dealer to keep working there even after he had received seven warnings in the past. According to news reports, the scam involved 5 people, including the dealer. All of them have been charged with fraud, theft, and cheating. It is estimated that they cheated the casino out of 5,000 Canadian Dollars.
