2022 might not have been the best year for cryptocurrencies, especially considering the rocky start to the year, but in terms of crypto gambling, they have never performed better. We place more bets at live casino games, video slots and RNG table games than ever before. SOFTSWISS, the iGaming industry’s number one cryptocurrency gambling provider and aggregation platform, has recently released it’s 2022 H1 State of Crypto Report which shows that crypto bets now account for 34.8% of all bets placed at online casinos.

The report released by SOFTSWISS reveals quite a few interesting statistics that show that cryptocurrency gambling is still on the rise. So much so, that bets using cryptocurrencies now account for over a third of all bets placed. This might serve as a surprise to many, as crypto prices have fallen dramatically in 2022. However, it seems that falling prices have actually spurred more people to use them. After all, buying low and selling high is a good policy.

Crypto Bets up by 46.4% Compared to 2021 H1

In the SOFTSWISS report, one statistic that shows the growth of cryptocurrencies in the iGaming industry is the total sum of bets placed. That figure for H1 in 2022 stands at over 37.5 million, which is up 46.4% from the same period last year. In H1 2021, there were 25.5 million bets placed using cryptocurrencies. That number was up a massive 136.8% on the same period in 2020, where just 10.8 million crypto bets were placed.

Of course, Bitcoin (BTC) remains the number one cryptocurrency of choice as it holds a 71.2% share of all crypto bets in the first half of 2022. However, it is actually lower than the 80.75% in the same period in 2021. That shows that more players are adopting and using other cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Doge (DOGE), and Tether (USDT). An example is Ethereum (ETH), which accounts for 14.7%, up from the 9.5% in H1 2021.

SOFTSWISS’ COO, Vitali Matsukevich stated:

We are seeing crypto transaction volumes rising, as the value of cryptocurrencies decreases. That means that crypto betting is actually healthier despite the loss in price many cryptocurrencies have experienced in 2022.

Top Cryptocurrency Game Studios and Casino Games

The report also details which gaming studios receive the most cryptocurrency bets on their games. In 2022 H1, Evolution once again proved the number one crypto-friendly live casino supplier. That firm ranked third overall, with BGaming and Platipus edging out the firm. Other iGaming brands attracting a large share of crypto bets are Booming Games and Betsoft.

Evolution also has many of its live casino titles among the top titles that attract cryptocurrency bets. Lightning Roulette is once again a major player while Crazy Time and Blackjack Live are now among the top titles. Pragmatic Play Live’s Sweet Bonanza CandyLand is also among the most popular crypto-friendly live casino games.

That sums up the report released by SOFTSWISS, but if you want to read it for yourself, simply go to this link, which takes you to where you can download the full PDF file. It is full of many interesting statistics that show cryptocurrency gambling continues to rise. The question is how long will it be before crypto bets overtake bets placed using cryptocurrencies?
