A new study has emerged from Entain that highlights the correlation between video gaming and betting. Following the research, the future of eSports betting is certainly looking like it will be fruitful.

Using a pool of 16,000 from the UK, the study from Entain shows that people who are keen on video gaming are 4.3 times likelier to bet than those who do not play video games. Furthermore, the study also found that of the 16,000 case studies, video gamers are 4.5 times more likely to participate in iGaming. In light of the new study, the theory that Generation Z are the only gamers is somewhat far from the actual truth.

Entain spoke of the findings by saying that the generation who were brought up playing consoles have continued their enthusiasm for all things gaming. Dubbed ‘Digital Dads’, the generation familiar with digital products are now likelier to watch eSports when compared to men without children. Additionally, women between 25-44 are twice as less likely to watch eSports and play video games than men.

The Deputy Director of Digital at Entain, Dom Groundsell, said that the time when gambling and mobile entertainment were only for the younger generation has passed. In contrast, we are now seeing that middle-aged men are more inclined to participate in these activities than ever before. In addition, these men show a willingness to try new forms of interactive entertainment. Following the study, Entain has new developments in the pipeline which will offer a fresh interactive experience of social features and gaming.

It is also reported that 10% of those below the age of 24 watch eSports every week via platforms like Twitch. 9% of those between the ages of 25-34 watch eSports every week, and 6% between the ages of 35-44-years old.

In another survey of 20,000 adults, 37% declared that they will, at some point in the future, watch eSports. These findings have put the industry on alert, as it anticipates that the public demand for an eSports product with an option to bet, will increase in the future.

The number of people using virtual reality is also predicted to increase in the future, according to Entain. 57% of adults below 35 years old, and 60% of Entain’s digital consumers have said that they show an interest in virtual reality technology.

Entain’s research also showed that 59% of men between the ages of 25-44 in Britain enjoy playing video or computer games such as Fortnite or FIFA on a weekly basis. This figure is twice that of women which showed just 29%. More than half of dads (56%) in Britain enjoy playing games on their mobile such as Candy Crush, and 84% are active in social media. When looking at Britain as a whole, those under 24 years of age play video games the most, with 53% playing video or computer games on a weekly basis, but those between the ages of 25-34 (46%) and 35-44 (36%), are not too far behind them.

The majority of all people use platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram every week, as demonstrated with 85% of people between the ages of 35-44, 89% of those between 25-34, and a staggering 92% of those below 24.

Entain has stated that it will now be launching new innovative experiences for its customers across the UK via some of the company’s leading brands, such as Ladbrokes which now hosts Evolution live games titles. These experiences will be based around mobile entertainment and virtual reality in gaming, music, and sport, and will demonstrate just how much Entain is adapting to meet the needs of its customers. After partnering with some bands, customers at Ladbrokes will be able to stream music and get access to events and gigs exclusively through the Amplify brand that has recently launched.
