The iGaming calendar is jam-packed with award ceremonies and now we have news of many of the big brands that have walked away with honours at another. The MiGEA Awards 2022 was held on the 24th of June at the Intercontinental Hotel in St. Julian’s, Malta and handed out awards across 37 categories.

Dubbed the ‘Oscars of iGaming Awards’ in the iGaming capital, Malta, the MiGEA is one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the industry. This time around, major iGaming brands including Pragmatic Play, SYNOT, and Stakelogic sponsored the event, and it attracted senior professionals from many other leading iGaming developers, operators, affiliates, and payment providers.

The event always brings the iGaming industry together and celebrates the companies and individuals that tirelessly work to bring innovation and improvement to the industry.

While we do not know the full list of award winners just yet, we do know the result of many of them. Two companies, in particular, will be very happy after clearing up 8 awards between them. Rootz, the operator behind some of the best online casinos, and the multi-award-winning slot and live casino developer, Pragmatic Play, both had four big reasons to celebrate.

Rootz Continues MiGEA Award-Winning Spree

The operator Rootz must look forward to the MiGEA awards each year. The company that operates leading online casinos, including Wildz Casino, Wheelz Casino and Spinz Casino, has won awards in the previous two years. In 2020, Rootz earned three nominations and took home the ‘Best Online Casino Operator’ award for Wildz Casino. A year later, they went even better by scooping four awards. The biggest was for the ‘Best Casino Operator of the Year’ while the firm also took down the ‘Best Start-Up Company of the Year’ and ‘Best Rising Star in iGaming’ for Wheelz Casino. To top things off, Lassa Rantala won the ‘Best CEO of the Year’.

As for this year, well, it was the same again for Rootz and its online casinos. The operator took home yet another four awards:

  • Best Online Casino Operator of the Year (Wildz Casino)
  • Best Online Casino Product of the Year (Spinz Casino)
  • Best Online Gaming Product of the Year (Spinz Casino)
  • Malta’s Best Gaming CEO of the Year (Lasse Rantala)

Rootz is not new to winning awards away from the MiGEA either. The operator has won recent awards at the EGR Operator Awards, EGR North America Awards, and the iGB Affiliate Awards.

Pragmatic Play – The Biggest Winner of the Night

As for the casino developer that walked away with the biggest awards, this was Pragmatic Play, a firm that has already won the 2022 EGR B2B ‘Casino / Slots Developer of the Year’ and the 2021 SBC Awards ‘Live Casino Supplier of the Year’ in recent months. At the 2022 MiGEA, Pragmatic Play actually took home four awards, which goes to show how highly this brand is thought of in the iGaming industry.

Those awards were:

  • Best Gaming Company of the Year
  • Best Gaming Casino Supplier of the Year
  • Best Innovative Product Company of the Year
  • The Lifetime Achievement Award

You can imagine that Pragmatic Play was rightly delighted with those awards. Being crowned the best gaming company, the best supplier, and for showing the best innovation throughout the year is a big achievement. The Lifetime Achievement Award is also the best possible icing on the cake. This developer not only releases up to six new slot titles each month and live casino games, but also manages to ensure that each is of the very highest standard. This is not bad for a company that only launched in 2016 and did not enter the live casino space until two years later.

Notable Mentions: Other winners on the night included BetConstruct, which took home the Best Omni-Channel Provider of the Year for 2022, SYNOT Games, Altenar, and Singular.
