The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) ramps up its battle against fraud

According to South Africa’s National Lotteries Commission (NLC), they are increasing their efforts to combat fraud. This news came as the NLC communicated with the South African Parliament about the issue.

Along with various fraudulent activities, the NLC is also fighting against the irregular procurement of lottery funds and grants. The focus has shifted to these issues following an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU). Their investigation showed that in the last 2 years alone, there have been over 200 projects suspected of procuring funds from the lottery unfairly. The monetary amount of these projects adds up to over 100 million Euros.

Jodi Scholtz, NCL commissioner, stated that they are developing systems to fight against this kind of fraud and corruption. One of the systems that are being implemented is a risk analysis system. This will improve the process of investigating and approving projects for grant funding.

One more system that is being integrated is a public information system. This will entail information about grand approvals being made public so that independent parties can investigate suspicious activity.

Pariplay® targets South African expansion by partnering up with Bet Network

Pariplay® is continuing its efforts to expand into the South African market. The well-established iGaming platform has already partnered up with the South African game operator SunBet, and now they are continuing their expansion by partnering with Bet Network. The Pariplay® and Bet Network collaboration will allow Pariplay® to get certified and provide their content to local online gambling platforms. Bet Network will play its part by using its expert knowledge of the local iGaming market to show significant growth. The next step is for the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board to approve and certify the proprietary products that Pariplay® have on their platform. Once this process is completed successfully, the partnership will expand by forming new partnerships with local South African game operators.
