Safer gambling is the primary focus of this year’s edition of the Sustainable Gambling Conference, an annual event organized to bring experts together from the outside and inside of the gambling industry. The 2021 edition of the conference will be hosted by Kindred Group, a leading online gambling operator that got into a partnership with Playtech earlier this year. This is the 6th consecutive year that the world-leading operator will host the conference. However, this year’s edition will be an online event.

Experts at the conference shared thoughts on how operators can ensure responsible and safe gambling practices while offering an exciting gambling experience. The conference theme is “Safer gambling: a shared responsibility,” in line with an objective to focus on aspects that are vital for the sustainable gambling industry.

Top speakers from around the world are expected to be in attendance. Some of these speakers include Nurit Nobel (who is a co-founder of Impactually, and also a researcher in Economics Psychology), Dr. Mark D. Griffiths (Nottingham Trent University’s Distinguished Professor of Behavioral Addiction), and Janne Elvedlid (the Facebook’s Head of Public Policy in Finland and Sweden).

Similarly, regulators from Malta, Denmark, France, and Sweden are also expected to be part of a panel discussion about the responsibilities and roles of the regulator. Christopher Gilham and Ryan Pitcher, co-hosts of “All Bets Are Off” (a gambling addiction podcast), will moderate a panel discussion on ‘Coming together to provide a more sustainable industry.

Excitement is in the Air Thanks to an Extraordinary Lineup of Speakers

Commenting on the conference, Kindred Group’s Head of Research and Responsible Gaming, Maris Catania noted that:

This year’s edition has an extraordinary lineup of speakers who are experts with a wide range of experience from both outside and inside the industry.

She added that it is essential that all stakeholders in the gambling industry learn from other sectors via the conference so that they can ensure better consumer protection. So many vital questions will be answered during the conference, including questions like: How can we work closer outside or inside the industry? Is Sustainable Gambling a reality or myth? How can we learn from the other industries?

Representatives from NOGA, Bonnier News, EFDN, TIN Fonder, and Trustly will discuss these crucial questions. There will also be speakers from EGBA, EPIS Risk Management, Bournemouth University, and the host Kindred Group. Maris explained that the Sustainable Gambling Conference began 6 years ago when Kindred Group combined forces with FSWS, the Malta-based local treatment center. She added that the conference aims to have a range of speakers from diverse, unique backgrounds and have them discuss the vital topics that are sometimes ignored.

The Research and Responsible Gaming head further pointed out that the conference is a stage where everyone involved in gambling will have a voice. The conference also allows operators to collaborate for future work. Maris concluded that Kindred Group benefits from having experts by experience, leading researchers, Ph.D. students, industry representatives, and affected others in their arena.

Kindred Group sets up the Sustainable Gambling Conference to connect stakeholders and the industry so that they can discuss the way forward and how they can all work effectively together to secure a more robust and sustainable gambling industry.
